Camp Staff

At Camp $tart-Up, we maintain a one-to-six counselor-to-participant ratio. Each Camp also has an experienced Director and Assistant Director.  Staff reside in the dorms with the participants and are on call 24 hours a day.  Each business plan team is assigned a counselor who coaches the team as they develop their plan and their final presentation for the last day of camp.  The small size of the teams ensures that each participant receives individual support, guidance, and mentoring from counselors and staff.

Camp $tart-Up staff are mature adults with experience in varied work environments, academic training in business, and expertise in working with young people. Past counselors have included graduates from top MBA and other academic programs, entrepreneurs, and leaders from youth-serving organizations.

All counselors participate in an intensive pre-camp orientation and training to acquaint them with IMI’s mission, philosophy, and approach to entrepreneurial education. IMI staff provide a thorough introduction to the Camp curriculum, policies, and materials.
