2005 Winners
Independent Means and DollarDiva are pleased to announce the winners
of the 2005 National Business Plan Competition.
And the Winners of the 2005 DollarDiva™ Business Plan Competition are:
Bling-Bling Discount Fashion Jewelry by 16-year old Natasha Spedalle of Astoria, NY.
With the establishment of Bling-Bling in 2003, Natasha turned her passion for shopping into a money-making venture. Bling-Bling sells trendy and fashionable costume jewelry at an affordable price via street fairs and bazaars. By reading a wide spectrum of fashion magazines Natasha keeps on top of popular styles and market trends and uses her knowledge of color and design to create simple but elegant displays and packaging. She personally purchases each product at various shops in New York City’s wholesale district, maintaining a healthy profit margin while still selling her pieces for no more than $6.
Dragonzfly.com by 15-year old Danielle Volman of Brooklyn, NY
With a mission statement of “Teaching teens responsibility through employment,” Dragonzfly.com aims to help teens from the age of 14-17 find local jobs. Revenues are generated by charging local businesses a modest monthly subscription fee of $40 (far less than what they would pay for an ad in a local newspaper or on more mainstream websites such as Monster.com) to list job openings appropriate for the teen job market. Teens can access the listings for free.
Envibrance Design Studiio by 20-year old Julene Fleurmond of Miama, FL.
Envibrance Design Studios is a graphic design and marketing company that creates websites, graphic art and promotional products such as logos and posters for businesses and community organizations. The company merges crisp, vibrant designs with the particular needs of each client in order to produce an innovative, eye-catching product.
