IMI - Live Events - Fashion & Finance
Launch Prep focuses on arming twentysomethings with skills to find their way into great careers. Over the course of two days, we alternate between one-on-one counseling on practical issues and inspiring meetings with near-peers and career professionals.
Day 1

Introduction
We open our workshop by assessing each participant's goals and develop a framework for the challenges all twentysomethings are facing as they start their careers.

Mission Statements
In this fun exploratory activity, participants look into their lives and their values to develop personal mission statements and translate their missions into attainable objectives, strategies, and tactics.

Lunch Panel Discussion
We match participants with a panel of young professionals in the fields they're interested in (and adjacent ones) for this casual lunch and discussion of what it takes to start out.

Interview 101
One of the greatest fears for many young job seekers is the interview: what will they ask me? How will I answer? Through role-playing, we help participants practice the answers to the questions they're most likely to be asked and teach participants how to prepare for interviews through research.

Practice Live Interview
Participants put their skills to use in practice interviews with an experienced professional in their field. We provide feedback on what worked and what didn't and give them the option of recording their interview to get a sense of what they sound like from the other side of the table.

Day 2

Practice Skype Interview
Participants apply their interview skills online in a second mock interview. We advise them on how to prepare and how to get the most out of today's online tools.

Entrepreneurship Field Trip
Participants meet an inspiring young professional who has decided to blaze his or her own path rather than joining an existing institution. Entrepreneur TBA.

Presentation: Resume, LinkedIn, and Facebook
In this practical session, we help participants improve how they appear on paper and on screen. We give advice for creating resumes that sell talents and experience, even when you’ve never had an internship. We help tailor Facebook profiles and get the most out of LinkedIn.

Extreme Networking
When unemployment is at it's highest rate in over twenty years, cruising job posting boards isn't enough to get a job let alone a great one. Claire Menuier shares how she used every contact she'd ever developed—from her grade school teachers to our own staff—to find her dream job at the Michael J. Fox foundation.

Next Steps
We help participants develop plans for applying the skills they've learned over the workshop and offer tools for following up, including resume consultation.
